Kobe To Play In Italy?

Kobe Bryant has a few offers on the table to play for the Italian team Virtus Bologna come October.  The offers range from a one season $6.7 million deal, to a one or two-month deal, as well as a per game contract in which he would be paid $739,000 for every home game he plays.  Kobe grew up in Italy where his father played basketball from 1984 to 1991.  He even speaks Italian so there is a decent chance he would accept an offer to play in Italy.  Fans of the Italian team are doing everything they can to persuade Kobe to join the team.  They will have never seen anybody quite like Kobe play live in person.  While NBA owners and players dispute on a new labor deal, many NBA players, including Wilson Chandler, Ty Lawson, J.R. Smith and Nets All-Star point guard Deron Williams, have agreed to play overseas. Perhaps Kobe will be the next major player to join him, thus putting more pressure on the owners to get a deal done.  Stipulations in Bryant's tentative contracts allow him to return to the NBA if there is a season, whenever that may be.

P.S. - San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobli used to play for Virtus Bologna in 2002 before he joined the Spurs.
