Kiddie Chair Sports

   The New England Patriots may be playing their first football game today but the bigger news around here is what El Pres of Barstool Sports did today.  Posted on his infamous website, Barstool Sports, Dave "El Pres" Portnoy posted a picture of Tom Brady's child naked on the beach.  The "nude" pictures were posted at 3 p.m. today and immediately outrage ensued as sports talk shows like WEEI hosted callers who were enraged about the pictures.  Some people said that he should be sued for child pornography and others said that this is the beginning of the end to the Barstool Sports website.
   Everyone has seen a naked baby and/or has a picture of themselves naked as a baby lying around somewhere in a photo album.  I don't really see a problem with these pictures because it is not like El Pres took the pictures himself and posted them on the website.  Also they are not sexual in nature in any way.  He had to obtain the pictures from a third party on the internet somewhere.  The child was on the beach with his famous model of a mother, Gisele Bundchen.  Paparazzi follow her wherever she goes, just like most celebrities, and they must have taken the pictures and posted them on the internet.  All Portnoy did was re-use them and do what he does best;  Add a funny caption and draw readers and create a buzz.  And what a buzz he has created.
    Local radio talk shows are full of hostile callers upset about the picture and the hosts are literally ripping Portnoy apart for what he did.  Twitter is a buzz with several celebrities and people of importance around Boston condemning Portnoy for what he did.  We will see where this actually goes and what, if anything, the repercussions will be.  Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are two of the richest, most powerful people in this country and the world.  If they want to, I'm sure they could bring Portnoy and BarstoolSports, and whoever actually took the picture, to court to see if this constitutes as child pornography or invasion of privacy.  It will be very interesting to see where this goes.  One thing is for sure, BarstoolSports is a buzz right now as well as WEEI, who desperately needs the attention they are receiving as they are falling behind in ratings to 98.5 The Sports Hub.  While 98.5, "Home of the Patriots and Bruins", is airing the Patriots game, WEEI is fielding an incredible number of irate callers about this "nude" baby picture.
    Perhaps where he may have crossed the line was the funny caption, commenting on the size of the boy's "howitzer." I think it's pretty damn funny and I've never met a person who thinks having a "howitzer" is a bad thing, even if he is talking about Brady's kid.  It's tough being a celebrity because you can't really have any privacy, including your children.  That's why paparazzi are some of the grimiest people alive.  They will do anything to get an embarrassing picture of a celebrity.  The true "criminal" in this situation is the person who took the picture and put it online.  Yeah, El Pres may have crossed the line by re-posting it and adding the comments but that is what Barstool Sports is all about.  Now instead of everyone talking about the Patriots game, everyone is saying "Did you hear about Barstool Sports and the picture of Brady's naked baby?"  Tune into WEEI and 98.5 The Sports Hub for what will be a great day of non-sports related chatter.
