Sox Pursuing Journeyman Bruce Chen?

98.5 The Sports Hub is reporting the Red Sox are looking to acquire Royals starting pitcher Bruce Chen to pitch in the potential Wild Card Tie-breaking game tomorrow.  Chen is scheduled to pitch tonight against Seattle so a deal would have to be done real soon.  In Chen's last start September 23 against the White Sox he went 8 innings, giving up one run and two hits.  Chen is a journeyman who has bounced around from team to team for the past several years, never really establishing himself as a solid starting pitcher.  However, he is definitely a better option than John Lackey who doesn't have the confidence to look himself in the mirror.  If we do acquire Chen and he pitches tomorrow, he wouldn't be able to pitch in the postseason due to his eligibility as a Type B free agent.
Other possible names being thrown out there include Ted Lilly from the Dodgers.  First things first the Sox have to win tonight and see what the Rays do.  Only time will tell who will start for both sides, if, and when there is a tie-breaker tomorrow.
